Samuel Carter Hall
Samuel Carter Hall (9 May 1800 – 11 March 1889) was an Irish-born Victorian journalist and man of letters, best known as the long-time editor of The Art Journal (1839–1880), one of the most influential art periodicals of the nineteenth century. He worked across a wide range of Victorian publications as reporter and editor, and published memoirs including "Retrospect of a Long Life: From 1815 to 1883." He was married to the Irish novelist Anna Maria Fielding (Mrs. S. C. Hall). He is a historical rather than contemporary contributor: material attributed to him on FedLeb.org reflects a citation of, or reference to, his nineteenth-century writing rather than an original, current-day submission.
