Separatism
Separatism seeks to break a region away into an independent state; federalism keeps the country together by giving each community a home within it.
The Boustany Constitution binds the cantons in one federation until 2222 (Art. 114).
It is a union by choice: secure in their own cantons, communities have every reason to live together rather than apart.
