How laws work in the federation: cantonal law prevails over federal law, and existing laws carry over until replaced. Laws of the current Republic become federal or cantonal laws.
In the canton, each canton keeps its own registers – land, commerce, civil status.
At the federal level, the federation succeeds to the rights and duties of the Republic of Lebanon (Art. 24, 98, 100, 103, 133).
