1990-2005 Centralized Unitary Republic (Taef amendment)
The Taif Agreement ended the war and amended the constitution in 1990, sharing power anew between communities within the same centralized state.
The unitary model of 1926 remained in place.
Peace returned, while the state was rebuilt under Syrian tutelage until 2005.
