Legislative Power (Cantonal Parliament)
Each canton elects its own parliament, which legislates on everything the Basic Law does not give to the federation. Its members are elected for four years by the canton’s citizens, wherever they live, in single-seat constituencies over two rounds; together, the cantonal parliaments form the federal parliament (Art. 28a–29, 50).
