1943-1990 Centralized Unitary Republic (Missak amendment)
At independence in 1943, the National Pact kept the centralized state and shared its offices between the communities.
Its formula – neither East nor West – was followed by the crisis of 1958, the Cairo Agreement of 1969 and the war of 1975–1990.
