1842-1858 Reglement Chakib Effende

The governance period defined by the Règlement Chekib Effendi (1845), an Ottoman-brokered regulation that divided Mount Lebanon into a Christian Qaimaqamate in the north and a Druze Qaimaqamate in the south, each administered by its own deputy-governor under Ottoman suzerainty, until the system was replaced by the Mutasarrifate’s Organic Statute.
