Subsidiarity
The principle that governmental tasks should be handled at the most local competent level, and that a Canton may transfer sovereign powers to the Federation (or trans-frontier institutions) by law; the Cantonal Parliament may challenge before a court any Federal act that infringes this principle or Cantonal sovereignty.
